In one of the most shocking developments of the NFL season, Philadelphia Eagles
star quarterback Jalen Hurts has publicly declared that he will not take the field for
the upcoming Super Bowl following the league’s decision to feature Bad Bunny as
the halftime show headliner.

The announcement sent shockwaves through the Eagles’ locker room, stunned the
front office, and ignited a firestorm of debate across social media.

Speaking to reporters outside the team’s practice facility, Hurts didn’t hold back.

“This game is about football, about legacy, about competition,” he said.

“The Super Bowl is sacred — and turning it into a circus with a performer who
doesn’t represent what this league stands for?

| can’t support that.” His statement immediately went viral, with clips flooding X
(formerly Twitter), Instagram, and TikTok within minutes.

Sources inside the Eagles organization described the decision as a “bombshell”™
that caught everyone by surprise.

“We were completely blindsided,” one front office executive told ESPN under
condition of anonymity.

“”Nobody saw this coming, not the coaching staff, not ownership.

We’re scrambling right now to figure out what this means for the team heading into
the biggest game of the year.”

Fans have been quick to voice their anger, both at the NFL and at Hurts.

Lincoln Financial Field’s parking lot was filled with upset supporters waving signs
reading “FOOTBALL FIRST, NOT FIESTA!”

and “NO HURTS, NO HOPE!”

Many others took to social media, calling on Commissioner Roger Goodell to
reconsider the halftime selection before the league risks losing one of its biggest
stars on the biggest stage.

Not everyone, however, is siding with Hurts.

Some Eagles fans have defended Bad Bunny’s right to perform, arguing that the
Super Bowl is as much an entertainment spectacle as it is a football game.

The debate has sparked heated arguments on sports talk shows nationwide, with
analysts split over whether Hurts is taking a principled stand or simply making an
unnecessary distraction.

The NFL had been rumored to be pursuing Taylor Swift for the Super Bowl halftime
show, but that did not come to fruition as they reportedly would not meet her
demands.
